Willard Jr., U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Willard's of Saba continues the family tradition of the world renowned Willard Hotel of Washington, D.C.Willard's of Saba is Saba's only luxurious hotel. Until Brad Willard arrived, there was nothing remotely comparable here. The hotel opened in 1994 and immediately began to attract large numbers of visitors, among them celebrities who might not have set foot on the island before. Guest rooms have Casablanca-like ceiling fans; furnishings are not of the highest standard, but are still comfortable. Because of the hotel is in a garden high on a hill overlooking the island's southwestern coastline, each room has sweeping views and almost constant ocean breezes. Much care went into the design, making use of everything from cedar from the U.S. Northwest to original island paintings. The least expensive units are the two rooms in the main building, which are quite spacious. The other five units are in a concrete building designed in the island's distinctive style, with red roofs, white walls, and green shutters. For the most luxurious living, ask for the VIP Room overlooking the pool, with its own large balcony. Lower Cliffside units are the smallest, but have good views from their private balconies. Honeymooners prefer the Room in the Sky. Bathrooms are small, shower-only affairs. The hotel restaurant and its bar are recommended. The most elegant room in the hotel with oriental touch decor covering over 1000 square feet of space including luxurious bathroom with shower, bathtub, and bidet. Cedar ceiling, two overhead fans,extra big beds, sitting area, walk in closet, writing desk, mini bar, cable TV with more than 15 channels and Laser disc movies upon request, radio/clock alarm. The following amenities are available Bathroom - Private, Bathtub / Shower Combination, Clock Radio, Minibar, Refrigerator, Television with Cable / Movies, Sofabed / Foldaway / Z-Bed, Balcony, Desk, VCR in Room. Facilities include restaurant; bar; outdoor pool; tennis court; fitness center; Jacuzzi; limited room service; laundry service.
